King Henry’s Exit

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Sigh… How can i possibly be happy?

Ever since the departure of David Dein in last April, chaos and rumors started to infect the Emirates Stadium. Many were curious if Arsene Wenger could move on without the support of his best friend, a best partner in football industry. David Dein is a man who loves football. Football is not just a part of him, football is his life. He spends almost his entire life indulged and committed to football. Despite an intermediate person between the squad and the board, he’s also a vital person in negotiating transfer among players. Who else in the board is as smashing as him? Shake the players hand during half time or full time, giving more than words of encouragement. He’s a great man.

A great lost for Arsene Wenger.

Recently, one of the all time talisman in the squad, King Henry, has signed for Barcelona for 16.1 million. With Arsene Wenger looks uncertainty of his own future; many were left curious and pondering for exit. The great Theirry Henry has left the squad. Unlike the non-flying Dutchman, Dennis Bergkamp, the 29 years old couldn’t see his career finished in Emirates. Huge impact to Arsenal players and fans ever since the vice president’s departure. Dein’s son, Darren Dein, was the best man during Theirry Henry’s wedding few years back. What’s left in Arsenal? It’s a pity to all that his will no longer contribute and service the club. BUT… as he said, "I am a Gunner for life", have truly make us all proud. Theirry Henry, will always be welcome and remembered as a legend in Arsenal. Hail King Henry.

They were once called the Invincible have nearly scattered into pieces. The usual starting eleven were now left with Gilberto Silva, Kolo Toure and Jens Lehmann. Who’s next? Gilberto may be heading Juventus and Lehmann looks to retire soon. The arrival of young Polish goalkeeper, Lucasz Fabianski, will definitely boost the team. But wait a minute, what am i doing here? Writing stupid blog… the new signing 22 years old goalkeeper had already been earning more than 10 folds of my salary in a month! And again, what am i doing?

Back to the topic, will Arsene Wenger sign an extension to his contract? I would hope for a YES answer. Else… I would have to face the possible ending of Cesc Fabragas, Emmanuel Adebayor, Theo Walcott and so forth leaving Highbury Square, London. With all due respect to them, they commit their life more to Arsene Wenger than to Arsenal. Even i myself could not imagine Arsenal without Arsene Wenger.

Is this the end of Arsenal FC?

Professor Arsene Wenger, please sign an extension and bring back the Arsenal that i used to be amazed…

Signing off,

Being unnoticed…

He see himself surrounded by his family members. His mom is crying placing his hand against her face. Seeing her son lying on the bed motionless for almost a fortnight, she can’t help herself but let the tears flow by. She ignores everyone’s advice; even her husband words have become deaf to her ear. She blames herself for his son’s mishap while the rest of the relatives remain in silence not knowing that to do. One only can pray and hope that he’ll wake up one day.

Analyzing through the statistic and graph at the end of the bed, the doctor respond, "I’m sorry mam, it’s been nearly two weeks since he was admitted in. But it’s still not showing any positive…"

"Then do something!!!", his dad intercept. Calming down, he questions the doctor, "When will he regain conscious?"

The doctor reply, "I’m afraid only time will tell, but we are doing our best. As you can see, during the collision…", the doctor pulse a little. "His head suffer a huge impact which result him lying there. Patient like this may take days to recover. Some might be weeks and even months. Depending on the patient himself. I’m sorry.", explained the doctor.

As the doctor walks out, silence again started to occupy the ward. Not much of voices could be heard except for beep coming from the device nearby. The green color light flashing up and down sequentially in a rhythm. Indicating he is normal; for now.

But he is not. He is standing beside his mom. It is just that no one could see him. How much he wanted to tell his mom not to cry or feel guilty but his voice couldn’t reach her. He is unable to wipe the tears away from his lovely mother. There he stood unnoticed.

He doesn’t want to go back yet. Not that he wanted to be selfish. Something was hanging on, more like unfinish business. He have a question, question that needs answering, and he needs the answer. Understanding waiting in an agony, he told himself to be patient. Longing for the truth…

Countless of his colleagues and friends came to visit him since that day. His childhood friends that they use to play behind the street when they were small; his buddies and classmates during teenager’s life; his Saturday football gangs; his colleagues or how he address them, his comrades. To him, they were more than friends. More like brothers and sisters. They were parts of how he was shaped today. His absence since that fateful morning certainly has created news for all. Condolence gifts and ‘Get Well Soon’ cards were self decorated the ward.

Among the peoples that visits him; it is she that he wanted to meet the most. The puzzle of his heart. Chocolate was not to his delight since young. Growing up avoiding them, he became a teasing subject in class whenever the word ‘chocolate’ was mention. He never did understand the tickling sense of bitter sweet creamy flavor of chocolate. Not till it was intrigued by her.

"He doesn’t much like the taste of chocolate, unless it was from her lips"

But she wasn’t there. Nop, she was never there. No cards. No messages. No doubt she knew his unfortunate encounter. But why wasn’t she’s there? Is she being so unsympathetic and cold? He questions himself day after day. Until…

Unnoticed… [Part 1]

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

The cool wind blew over the horizon of the land. Dark cloulds gathering across the morning sky announcing the heavy down pour are about to invade the city of Pearl. Lamp posts along the street being light up. Motorist drop by at the pathway to put on raincoat preparing for the tears of heaven.

He departed on the gloomy morning as usual before his watch shows its now reaching the first quarter of 7 in the morn. Not knowing the purpose of heading work; just be there for the sake of attendance. Its Friday and he should be glad that its coming to an end of the working week, weekend holidays is around the corner, but he felt nothing. Emotionless.

Traffic jam as usual, probably worst since all trying to rush to work before it rain. Motorist skid through between cars. Music from the radio of his car gradually grew softer as it was overwhelmed by the frusfrating honks from nearby vehicles. Its now drizzling outside of his window. He turn on his car’s wiper to cast away the raindrop for clearer view. Apart from the rest, he patiently wait in his car for his turn to move on. There’s no hurry, he said to himself. Late as become a customary in his life recently.

As he drives along the way in the normal lane, he could see numerous of vehicles regardless of size dashed on by his side in the fast lane. When he reached at the junction in front of local university, his lane grew slower. He was doing less than 50, he couldnt gear up. Needless to say, he was caught in the traffic, except for the ones in fast lane.

As he past the local university in the town, a blue worker bus at the fast lane made an emergency stop. To avoid any accident, the bus driver turn his huge vehicle. It was slippery on the road due to the rain yesterday. The bus overturned and slammed the car behind the fateful driver. The momentum was high so does the impact. The car was smashed and cause the 2-way traffic to slow down. Windscreen and lights were broken into pieces dropped on the road. Screaming and honks are everywhere. Some even get out of their transport to aid. The driver was bleeding with his head on top of the steering wheel. No one knows if both drivers could survive the accident.

He was shocked, he saw the whole incident in his rear mirror. He knows he has cheated death. If only he was a second late, he will be underneath the bus. Luck was in his pocket.

Helpful motorists and cars stop in the middle of the road to try to give any help. He could see a person making a call, ambulance or something that is wise at moment like this. He wishes to stop aside and give help. At least he could help the passengers get out of the bus. But he couldnt make a halt as too many cars were already behind him. He could only pray that GOD may show mercy on the fateful young driver. He drives on, asking himself why he didnt stop and help.

It was already 8 when he reached his destination. He park his car, turn off the radio, put on sunblock for the windscreen and got off the car. As he walks, he noticed that his friend was ahead of him. He fasten his pace. Hoping to walk beside her, even if its just a 100 meter to go before the guard house. An usual morning greeting or so.

"Mornin…", he said when he reached beside her trying to ice-break a conversation. She didnt notice him. Maybe he was too soft spoken, or her mind was still not with her. In her bed probably, thinking why she need to get up early for work.

With clearer voice, he said, "Hie".

Before he knew it, a technician in wind breaker walk pass through him avoiding rain before it fall. She turn to her left to see who it was. Then she continue walking. He turned speechless. He realized that someone walked through him. Not to his left or right, but through him. His face turn pale. He look at his hand. No doubt they are solid. He can touch his body. He is there. But how did he… He dont know.

He walked ahead and stop in front of her, "Hey, did you see that, he… i mean, i…". Before he could finished his sentences, she walked through him. She didnt respond to his words or actions. She didnt saw him. He grabbed his bag, it was there but how is it possible. He tried to grab her hand as she walks by, but he was left in vain. He couldnt touch her. He was shocked. What happen to him? No words could ever explain for it. Beyond his thought this could happen.

He stood there motionless. Not knowing what to do. Then he came to realize that the vehicle that the bus victimized when it overturned was actually his. He didn’t make it through. No, he didn’t cheated death, but death himself cheated him. He was a pawn in GOD’s chess. He was bleeding and there is still pulse in his body. But his soul is not there.

Everything came into picture now. Why he was always overtook on the flyover even he was driving in the right lane. Why he was not noticed at the company’s carpark, when he signal to park on the right, but still another local made car take his slot.

Why is this happening to him. He’s still 21 by age. Young and talented. Bright future awaits him. But it ended…

He’s now invisible. No one could see him. Not even her. He was left unnoticed.
